People on my Journey pt. 2

This next leg of my journey was less personal but so much more interesting. Airports really are the best places to watch people, I mean as you wait for your plane there is nothing you can do really.

As I was waiting in Denver for my flight to Dallas Ft. Worth I noticed the difference between American Airlines and Southwest. Southwest is friendly, fun and cheap. It appears that Southwest cares more abou their passangers, where as on American Airlines they just see us as dollar signs. You pay for your bag, you pay for your snack if you want one and the crew is often times extremely rude. There was a young hispanic girl who, while she was waiting had taken almost everything out of her backpack. Then they started boarding call and she had too much stuff to pack up that quickly so she just proceeded to the gate ticket in hand with all her stuff in her hands as well. Well, the lady working at the gate just started yelling at her. It was totally rude and extremely uncalled for. In fact, I felt bad for the girl. I had been watching her and knew that most, if not all of that stuff fit in her backpack which was of the correct size to bring on board. I could not beleive it. That was the first time in about 7 years I would say that I had flown American and let me tell you, I don’t want to fly them again because I bet if the girl were a business man she would have been treated differently.

While flying I was seated next to a really nice woman (Thank God). She had been through a lot in her life. She is a widow and he son had lukemea when he was a teen. Luckly, he is perfectly healthy now. Could you imagine losing your husband when he is only 50 years old? You think you are going to grow old together and see your children grow up and he just dies of a stroke so young! Yet, although all these horrible and emotially draining things happened to this women she was so positive about life. She was so loving and so nice to be around! If such horrible things had happened to me I’m not too sure I would be so positive about life. But maybe it is those things that allowed her to see the real beauty and positivity in life. I really truely hope the best for this woman.
